Alcala de Chivert is a small working town in the Provence of Castellon. It is the Administration Centre for the area, including the beach area of Alcossebre and the natural park of the Sierra de Irta. Alcossebre is an unspoiled holiday area with a variety of small beaches. There are adequate local shops and restaurants. Accommodation is mainly in houses and low-rise apartments (no higher than four stories). There are a few hotels. The nearest railway station is in Alcala de Chivert. A car is necessary if you wish to explore the area. It is best suited to a beach or walking holiday. The surrounding countryside is farm land, specialising in oranges, almonds, olives artichokes and other vegetable crops.
