If you're going to mexico to have good beach time and to actually see what part of the country is like, this is a very good hotel. Good value, great stretch of beach, and ready walking access to a number of good restaurants, the flea market, and other outdoor vendors.
If you want a new, fancy hotel with very good food, don't stay here.
Our room--which was not particularly nice but didn't have any problems either--had a superb view of the ocean with, surprisingly, pretty comfortable beds. It had air conditioning (a wall unit), but in January we didn't need it.
The food was not very good, but it did the job (we got breakfast at the hotel daily).
The social scene when we were there was pretty quiet--many older folks--but everyone was nice.
Nice staff too.
